Skip the I-4 nightmare by choosing the right airport for your trip.
Orlando operates as two cities layered on top of each other. The theme park corridor — Disney, Universal, SeaWorld and Epic Universe — runs along I-4 southwest of the city. The business side clusters around the Orange County Convention Center on International Drive and a growing downtown office market 15 miles northeast. Charter clients are usually headed to one or the other, and the airport that makes sense depends entirely on which part of Orlando you're spending time in.
Orlando Executive Airport (ORL) sits 3 miles from downtown with customs on site and no commercial traffic. Kissimmee Gateway Airport (ISM) is about 8 miles from Disney and 10 from the convention center. AvSky coordinates flights into both and matches the airport to your ground destination, keeping the post-landing drive as short as the geography allows.

We fly to Orlando from any airport in the world. These estimated prices are for some of the most popular charters into ORL and ISM. All estimates are based on a round-trip, Friday through Sunday itinerary. Actual quotes vary depending on factors like season, available aircraft and more. Your quoted price may be more or less than the estimates on this page.
Orlando hosts more than 200 conventions and major events a year, and every one of them tightens the market.
Event weeks in Orlando affect everything — aircraft availability, FBO parking, hotel inventory, and ground transportation. Whether you're flying a team in for a trade show at the Orange County Convention Center or bringing the family down for a holiday week at the parks, we monitor the schedule and plan ahead. AvSky sources from more than 12,000 aircraft, confirms FBO availability at ORL or Kissimmee before you commit, and arranges vehicles that are waiting when you land.

Orlando Executive Airport (ORL) is the default for most private charters — three miles east of downtown, no commercial traffic, two FBOs (Atlantic Aviation and Sheltair), U.S. Customs by appointment, and a 6,004-foot runway.
Kissimmee Gateway Airport (ISM) is closer to the parks and convention center, about eight miles from Disney, with a 6,001-foot runway but no customs. Heavy and ultra-long-range jets need Orlando International (MCO) or Orlando Sanford International (SFB), with runways of 12,005 and 11,002 feet respectively.

What to know about the metro region, the airports, and the calendar before your trip.
Orlando's metro sprawls across four counties. The theme parks cluster southwest of the city along I-4, the convention center sits on International Drive, and downtown is a separate zone 15 to 20 miles northeast of the parks. That geography is why airport choice matters — landing at the wrong field can add 30 to 45 minutes of ground time depending on where you're headed on a good day, or even longer when Orlando's notorious traffic backs up.
The major destinations spread across a 30-mile radius, so ground transportation is part of every trip. AvSky can help you coordinate car service to the convention center, an SUV to a resort, or a rental waiting at the ramp. Most clients need a vehicle for the duration of their stay.
Golf groups of three or four typically fly well on a Phenom 300 or Citation CJ4 — both fit into ORL and Kissimmee's 6,000-foot runways, and the Phenom 300's 84-cubic-foot baggage hold can handle four golf bags plus luggage. Families headed to the parks with car seats, strollers, and a week's worth of bags often need a midsize jet like the Citation XLS, which adds stand-up headroom and 90 cubic feet of cargo space. Super-midsize aircraft like the Challenger 350 can operate into ORL under normal conditions but leave less margin on hot days. Heavy jets — Gulfstream G450, Challenger 650, and anything larger — need the longer runways at MCO or Sanford.
The Orange County Convention Center hosts over 200 events a year, often back to back, and the ripple effects hit aircraft availability, FBO ramp space, and hotel inventory across the metro. Weeks with overlapping conferences — common from January through April — can tighten the charter market in central Florida noticeably. AvSky monitors the event calendar and books early when demand windows are visible.
A few things worth knowing before you book your flight into Central Florida.
Orlando Executive Airport is three miles from downtown and the fastest way into anything on the east side of the metro — meetings, the Amway Center, Winter Park, or the airport's own Expressway connection to I-4. If your trip is centered around Disney, Universal, or the convention center on International Drive, Kissimmee Gateway puts you significantly closer with less highway time.
I-4 runs northeast-southwest through the metro and carries nearly all cross-town traffic. During peak hours and event weeks, the stretch between downtown and the theme parks can easily add 30 to 45 minutes to what should be a 20-minute drive. Which airport you land at is often the most effective way to avoid it entirely.
Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, spring break, and the Fourth of July are the highest-demand windows for Orlando charters. Aircraft availability drops and pricing rises, sometimes weeks in advance. If your travel dates overlap with any of these, reach out to AvSky early so we can lock in your aircraft and confirm FBO parking before the window tightens.
Orlando Executive has U.S. Customs on site, which makes it a natural launch point for charter legs to the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, or the Caribbean. If you're combining a few days at the parks with an island trip, AvSky can build the full itinerary — domestic and international legs — under one quote.
It does. If your trip is mostly theme parks and the convention center, Kissimmee Gateway puts you 8 to 10 miles from both. If you have meetings downtown or events at the Amway Center, ORL is 3 miles out. For split itineraries, ORL is usually the better compromise — it's 20 to 25 minutes from the parks depending on I-4 traffic, whereas Kissimmee to downtown can take 35 to 45 minutes during peak hours.
It can under normal conditions. ORL's main runway is 6,004 feet, and the Challenger 350's takeoff distance is around 4,835 feet at sea level on a standard day. But Florida summer heat stretches those numbers, and a fully loaded departure on a 95-degree afternoon narrows the margin. AvSky evaluates aircraft performance against the day's conditions and will route through MCO if needed.
Significantly. The Orange County Convention Center hosts over 200 events a year, and weeks with overlapping conferences tighten the charter market across central Florida. FBO ramp space fills up, aircraft positioning gets competitive, and pricing reflects the demand. When AvSky sees a major event window on the calendar, we flag it early and recommend booking two to three weeks out instead of the usual few days.
That's common and straightforward. AvSky can position the aircraft at a different airport for your departure leg. The logistics are simple as long as FBO availability is confirmed at both fields. We coordinate ramp space, ground transportation between airports, and departure timing so the transition doesn't add unnecessary complexity to your schedule.
Generally, yes. ORL and Kissimmee are general aviation airports with lower landing fees and simpler handling. MCO is a major commercial airport, and private flights using Signature or Atlantic's GA facilities there typically see higher landing fees, handling charges, and fuel costs. The tradeoff is runway length — if your aircraft requires more than 6,000 feet, MCO or Sanford are your options regardless of cost.
