What Goes Into Your Quote?
Key facts about charter flight costs

Flight time
Flight time the single biggest factor in your quote, and you’ll pay more if an aircraft has to be repositioned to accommodate your itinerary. That’s why choosing a broker with a large operator network (like AvSky) can help keep your costs down.

Aircraft size
Larger jets come with higher hourly rates — not just because they’re bigger, but because they offer more range, speed and cabin amenities. Choosing the right size aircraft is about balancing comfort, performance and budget.

Special requests
Services and amenities like in-flight catering, pet accommodations and ground transportation can be arranged as part of your charter. These personalized touches are optional and tailored to your preferences.

Seasonality
Pricing can fluctuate with demand, and certain times of year — like holidays and major events — often see higher rates. Booking during off-peak seasons can sometimes offer more flexibility and better value.
Charter Flight Quote FAQs
Quick Answers To Common Questions About Charter Pricing
Private jet charter prices are typically quoted per flight hour and can range widely based on the aircraft. Hourly rates start at around $1,500 to $2,500 for a small turboprop, and go up to $10,000+ per hour for large, long-range jets. The exact price depends on your specific trip details, but a charter broker can quickly give you a tailored quote once they know your route, passenger count and any special requests or preferences.
The two primary factors are aircraft type/size and flight duration. Larger, longer-range jets have higher hourly rates than smaller aircraft, and longer trips naturally use more fuel and incur more flight time. Other cost factors include which airports you use (landing and handling fees can vary by airport), any crew expenses (like overnight stays if your crew must remain with the aircraft), and timing (flying on peak travel days or short notice can sometimes affect pricing). Essentially, your quote is the sum of all operational costs – aircraft, fuel, crew, airport fees, etc. – tailored to your itinerary.
Unlike commercial airline tickets, private aircraft charters are priced for the entire aircraft, not per passenger. When you charter a plane, you’re renting the whole plane (with all its seats) for your group, so the cost is the same whether you fly alone or with a full cabin. The only per-person charges are minor taxes or fees such as the U.S. federal excise “head tax,” which is about $4.30 per passenger per leg domestically (around $18.90 for international legs). This means you can bring travel companions at no added charter cost (up to the aircraft’s capacity), effectively lowering the cost per person when the expense is shared among the passengers.
At AvSky Charters, our quotes include aircraft rental, crew, fuel, airport fees and taxes. Our goal is to provide all-in pricing so that you never have to worry about unexpected costs. However, there can be additional fees in rare circumstances, such as if your aircraft requires de-icing, or if a pet causes damage to the plane’s interior. We’re happy to discuss this or any other pricing concerns you may have.
For one-way private flights, pricing often factors in the cost of repositioning the aircraft back to base (or to its next pickup), meaning you may pay for the plane’s empty return journey. Unless another client books that “empty leg” in the opposite direction, the operator will include the return flight time as part of your quote. (This is why one-way charters can approach the cost of a round-trip.) Some operators mitigate this by using “floating fleets” (aircraft that don’t need to return to a home base) or by offering one-way specials. But generally, the repositioning cost is accounted for in your quote.
