Old Town charm with Caribbean water on every side
Key West feels more like a Caribbean island than a Florida city — a four-mile stretch of old architecture, warm water, and a pace that doesn't answer to anyone's schedule but its own. Duval Street runs from the Gulf to the Atlantic in just over a mile. Hemingway's polydactyl cats still own the property on Whitehead Street. The backcountry flats north of the island hold some of the best tarpon and permit fishing in the hemisphere.
A light jet or turboprop gets you there nonstop from most of the eastern U.S., and EYW has customs clearance on site for flights from the Bahamas and Caribbean. AvSky knows this airport well — it has a few operational quirks — and we handle the aircraft selection, scheduling, and ground transportation so the only thing on your mind when you land is where to eat first.

We fly to Key West from any airport in the world. These estimated prices are for some of the most popular charters into EYW. All estimates are based on a round-trip, Friday through Sunday itinerary. Actual quotes vary depending on factors like season, available aircraft and more. Your quoted price may be more or less than the estimates on this page.
Shared airspace, limited parking, and a team that knows how to work both.
Key West's single-runway airport shares airspace with Naval Air Station Key West, which means scheduling and coordination matter more here than at most Florida destinations. We work through the timing, confirm parking availability during peak season, and arrange ground transportation to Old Town, Stock Island, or wherever you're headed. With access to more than 12,000 aircraft, we can match your group to the right plane for EYW's 5,076-foot runway — or route you through Marathon if parking is tight or you're spending time in the Middle Keys.

Key West International Airport (EYW) handles light jets and turboprops without issue, though its 5,076-foot runway limits options for midsize and heavier aircraft — your AvSky advisor will confirm what fits. Signature Flight Support is the sole FBO.
Parking is limited during peak season from December through April, so overnight stays should be arranged early. Florida Keys Marathon International Airport (MTH) is about 50 miles northeast with a comparable runway and less congestion, and works well when EYW parking is tight or you're spending time in the Middle Keys.

What to know about the island, the airport, and the water before you arrive
Old Town Key West stretches from Mallory Square on the harbor to the Southernmost Point buoy at the corner of Whitehead and South streets. The Hemingway Home and Museum on Whitehead Street is open year-round, and Fort Zachary Taylor State Park at the island's southwestern tip has the best natural beach on the island. Mallory Square draws nightly sunset crowds with buskers and food vendors.
Key West is four miles long and less than two miles wide, so most of the island is reachable on foot, by bicycle, or by scooter once you're in Old Town. The drive from EYW to Duval Street takes about ten minutes. Street parking in Old Town is scarce year-round, and garage spots fill early during peak season. Most charter clients skip the rental car entirely.
EYW's 5,076-foot runway handles light jets and turboprops comfortably. A Citation CJ3+ or Phenom 300E fits without issue, though departure weight restrictions may apply on hot days. Midsize jets can operate into EYW with careful performance planning. For heavy jets or large groups, a mainland airport may be required, with a connection onward to the Keys.
Key West is a year-round fishing destination with access to both Atlantic and Gulf waters. Flats fishing for permit and tarpon runs strong from March through July, and the reef line south of the island holds grouper, snapper, and yellowtail year-round. The backcountry flats north of the island are accessible by boat from multiple marinas on Stock Island and in Key West Bight.
4 Insider Tips for Key West Charters
Key West International has limited transient parking, and the winter season from December through April is the busiest stretch. If you're overnighting your aircraft, let us know early so we can confirm availability. Marathon is a backup option if EYW parking is full, and we can arrange a car for the drive down.
EYW has a voluntary noise curfew between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Late-night arrivals are not impossible, but they require coordination and may involve after-hours fees. If your schedule runs late, we can adjust routing to Marathon or plan your arrival for earlier in the evening.
Fantasy Fest in late October and New Year's Eve are the two busiest periods on the island. Airport traffic, parking, ground transportation, and hotel availability all tighten considerably. If you're planning a charter during either window, book well in advance — aircraft and FBO slots go early.
Florida Keys Marathon International is about 50 miles from Key West with a 5,008-foot runway and its own customs facility. If EYW parking is full, or you're splitting time between the Middle and Lower Keys, Marathon can be the better arrival point. The drive to Key West takes about an hour along the Overseas Highway.
Yes. Key West International is a designated Port of Entry with U.S. Customs and Border Protection on site. International flights can clear customs directly at EYW. Marathon also has a customs facility, though hours are more limited — currently Thursdays through Mondays, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (verify current hours with CBP before finalizing your routing). AvSky can confirm the best clearance plan for your specific trip.
NAS Key West operates adjacent to EYW, and the two airports share airspace. Military jet traffic runs south and east of the airport, and instrument departures from EYW carry a 2,000-foot initial altitude restriction. During visual conditions, departures must maintain runway heading until reaching the field boundary, then turn north or south. None of this prevents private operations, but it adds a coordination layer that your crew and AvSky should be aware of.
During peak season — December through April — aircraft availability and FBO parking both tighten. Fantasy Fest in late October and New Year's Eve are the two most constrained windows of the year. For those periods, booking several weeks out is a good idea. During the off-season, shorter lead times are usually fine, though summer afternoon thunderstorms can shift schedules on short notice.
Hurricane season runs June through November, with the most active months typically August through October. Key West is in a high-exposure zone and evacuations can happen quickly. If you're chartering during this window, AvSky monitors weather developments and can adjust departure timing, routing, or aircraft positioning as conditions change. Travel insurance with trip interru
Marathon is about 50 miles northeast of Key West and has its own airport with an FBO and customs facility. If you're spending time in both areas, we can arrange arrival at one airport and departure from the other, or coordinate ground transportation between the two. The drive along the Overseas Highway takes about an hour and is one of the more scenic stretches of road in the country.
