Airfield Options Across Canouan and St. Vincent
Canouan Airport (CIW/TVSC) sits on the southern end of Canouan, featuring a 5,900-foot paved runway capable of handling corporate private jets directly. The airfield operates during visual daylight hours, offering dedicated on-site St. Vincent and the Grenadines customs clearance, Jet-A fueling and private executive passenger handling just minutes from the Mandarin Oriental and Sandy Lane Yacht Club.
Argyle International Airport (SVD/TVSA) on mainland St. Vincent provides a 9,000-foot runway accommodating heavy, long-range transcontinental aircraft with full 24-hour instrument operations. Travelers landing at St. Vincent can connect to outer islands like Bequia and Mustique via short scheduled twin-engine turboprops or private powerboat charters.

Canouan Island Luxury and Sandy Lane Yacht Club
Canouan has emerged as the ultra-luxury capital of the Grenadines. The island features Mandarin Oriental, Canouan on Godahl Beach, surrounded by private multi-million-dollar residential estates and a championship golf course designed by Jim Fazio. The Sandy Lane Yacht Club accommodates superyachts up to 330 feet, offering luxury boutique shopping, fine waterfront dining and private dockside concierge services.
Island Transportation, Yacht Charters and Water Taxis
Navigating the Grenadines is inherently maritime. On Canouan, electric golf carts provide effortless transit between resorts, villas, golf greens and marina docks. Between islands, luxury power catamarans, private day yachts and water taxis link Canouan to Mayreau, the Tobago Cays and Union Island in under thirty minutes. AvSky Charters coordinates private yacht charters and dockside transfers in tandem with your flight schedule.
Selecting Aircraft for Canouan Runway Operations
Canouan's 5,900-foot runway comfortably accommodates turboprops, light jets and midsize aircraft like the Citation Latitude or Challenger 350 with complete safety reserves. Operating crews calculate landing and takeoff weights carefully for hot-day overwater departures. For travelers chartering heavy aircraft, landing at St. Vincent's 9,000-foot runway paired with a private yacht transfer delivers effortless transcontinental comfort.
Tobago Cays Marine Park and Mustique Seclusion
The Tobago Cays Marine Park is an aquatic wonderland comprising five uninhabited coral islets sheltered behind Horseshoe Reef. Protected crystal-clear waters allow visitors to snorkel alongside gentle green sea turtles, swim with spotted eagle rays and picnic on deserted powder-white beaches. To the north, Mustique preserves storied private island luxury, celebrated for private villas, Basil's Bar and tranquil Macaroni Beach.

What Clients Ask Before Flying to the Grenadines
Canouan (CIW/TVSC) is the Grenadine business jets most often reach without changing aircraft: about 5,900 feet of runway, Jet A-1 and ground handling on hand, and border formalities a short drive from the resorts. Its own literature says the field takes light and medium jets plus some heavies, which still leaves your operator to approve the tail you're flying against the distances currently declared, the state of the surface, weather and the trip home. Argyle International (SVD), on St. Vincent proper, has some 9,000 feet and clears arrivals from abroad as well, but it serves as a jumping-off point rather than a place this crowd stays. Mustique, Bequia and Union Island run shorter, tighter strips, so a turboprop is the conservative baseline for planning those.
Mustique's airstrip is short and closes with the light, so a private jet out of the US hands you to a Twin Otter for the last stretch rather than landing on the island itself. The standard shape is a jet into Barbados, St. Lucia, Martinique or the mainland at St. Vincent, then Air Adelphi carries you across in an 18-seat Twin Otter — call it 10 minutes off St. Vincent, 25 off St. Lucia, 50 from Barbados or Martinique — with a private charter available if the timetable won't cooperate. Two details govern the booking. The island flight is a purchase of its own, held apart from whatever villa or hotel reservation you've made, and since nothing may touch down there after dark, the jet needs to be sitting on its gateway ramp around mid-afternoon at the latest before a same-day connection can be promised. Luggage comes off when you clear and goes back on at the island desk.
Canouan is the jet endpoint, and the island legs run from there by air or water. Mustique is about a 12-minute Twin Otter hop, Bequia about five minutes by air or a ferry ride from St. Vincent, and the Tobago Cays plus Petit St. Vincent and Palm Island, each its own resort island, are reached by boat, often the resort's own transfer or a chartered yacht. None of this rides on your jet — Canouan is where the aircraft stops — so the onward connections are planned as separate legs, priced separately, and timed around the daylight limits those little airstrips keep. Rather than leave you chasing each piece, AvSky coordinates the onward legs within the same booking, so the island connections are held and timed for you.
In St. Vincent and the Grenadines you clear wherever the jet sets down, and five airports are published with immigration processes: Argyle on the mainland plus Bequia, Mustique, Canouan and Union Island. Canouan and Argyle are the two a jet charter realistically uses, and Canouan's published customs and immigration desks currently work from first light until sunset, so the operator reconfirms the day's hours and any extension before departure. For US travelers the State Department currently calls for a passport valid at entry, no tourist visa, and a booking that carries you onward or home, and rules differ by nationality, so confirm for everyone aboard. A published passenger service charge applies to departing travelers and the operator normally settles it. No US preclearance operates here, so the journey home is processed at your first US airport of entry.
Reckon on a bit under four hours nonstop from South Florida — Miami is about 1,331 nautical miles great-circle to Canouan — and roughly four and a half from the Northeast, with New York and Boston at about 1,818 and 1,861 nm. Charlotte at 1,720 nm and Atlanta at 1,786 nm fall between. Those are block figures from our own model, and a great-circle line isn't the route you'll actually fly: the filed and cleared flight plan, winds, weather, ATC, alternates and the arrival procedure all move both the mileage and the clock, and only the operator quotes billable hours. The track down runs the Atlantic side of the islands, and the geometry generally lies east of Cuban territory, though the flight plan and clearances establish any overflight authorization a given mission needs. An island reached by Twin Otter adds the gateway stop and a short hop at the end.
A paid, non-scheduled charter into St. Vincent and the Grenadines needs Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority permission, applied for at least 24 hours ahead, alongside local landing-rights coordination through the airport's licensing route. Peak-season dates are still worth locking down early, since aircraft and handling are the real constraint rather than the paperwork. Traveler details go to CARICOM's advance passenger information system no later than 40 minutes before departure, and the airport wants a general declaration, a passenger manifest and embarkation and disembarkation forms. All of it sits on the operator's side: you supply passenger details once, and the coordinator confirms the current application route, documents, lead time and fee for your specific flight, files the plan and lodges the manifests.
You can buy Jet A-1 in the Grenadines at Canouan, where it's advertised on the field, and up on the mainland at Argyle — the smaller strips down the chain sell nothing. Fly Canouan direct and this barely registers, since the airplane tops up where it parks. Build a connection into the trip and it starts steering the plan, because the turboprop leg has to be shaped around where the tanks actually are. Whichever it is, your operator verifies stock on hand, uplift terms, release, pricing and credit at every point before a quote firms up — what's available changes both what an aircraft can carry and what the trip costs. Better settled early than at the ramp.
A Grenadines charter price turns on a handful of variables, and the numbers in the table are modeled ballparks for the direct Canouan routes rather than quotes. Cabin class is the dominant lever — a Florida run on a midsize jet anchors the bottom of the range and a heavy jet from up north the top — and because origins across the Northeast and Southeast bill identical block hours, the size of the cabin outweighs your departure city. Season, the distance the aircraft repositions to collect you, and Canouan handling and parking in the busy December-to-April stretch fill in the rest. Government charges aren't a rounding error either: a live quote carries the US international tax, the three per-passenger fees the US collects on arrival home for customs, immigration and agriculture, the SVG passenger service charge, published landing, navigation and parking, plus the handler's own bill. Any onward flight or boat to the private islands prices on its own. Tell us the trip and we'll come back with a firm, itemized figure.
Empty legs to the Grenadines do surface, though less often than on a well-trafficked mainland pairing, since Canouan draws seasonal rather than everyday traffic. When one does, it can carry the same cabin for a fraction of a booked charter. The catch sits in the scheduling: an empty leg belongs to another client's trip, flying their aircraft on their chosen date, and it can be rescheduled or withdrawn if their itinerary changes. Travelers who can bend their dates sometimes do very well; those tied to an exact week are steadier with a confirmed charter, particularly here, where the onward island connection has to be timed to daylight. Tell us the range you'd entertain and we'll watch for anything routing this way.
A Grenadines charter's baggage limit comes from the aircraft's hold rather than an airline's printed allowance, which suits how people travel down here — long villa stays, reef gear, the soft duffels that work aboard a boat. Match the cabin to the haul and everything flies with you. The catch is the connecting leg: that 18-seater out to Mustique or Bequia carries strict weight and piece limits, nothing transfers automatically from your international flight, and anything over rides on the next service, so a heavily loaded group usually pools bags or ships the surplus behind them. Landing the jet at Canouan sidesteps that squeeze. Pass along the gear list with your headcount and we'll size both the jet and the connection to take it.
Island-hopping is the normal shape of a Grenadines trip rather than the exception. A common run lands the jet at Canouan, settles a few days into the resorts there, then moves on to Mustique or Bequia by Twin Otter and out to the Tobago Cays or a private island by boat or chartered yacht. The pieces to coordinate are the daylight limits on the smaller strips, the separate flight booking that a Mustique stay requires, the bags you'll collect and re-check at each border stop, and the boat transfers for the cays and the private-island resorts. Lay out the sequence you're after when you reserve, and we'll fit the jet, the turboprops and the boat transfers together so each connection is timed to the one before it.
Charters to the Grenadines fly right through hurricane season. Atlantic storms run June to November, with the greatest activity between August and October, and we follow the forecast on each booking, holding dates loose when a system looks threatening. Barbados, St. Lucia and Grenada all sit within a short hop as diversion options, subject to the operator's approval of the aircraft and the usual parking, handling and border coordination. The southern Grenadines were struck hard by Hurricane Beryl in 2024, and the private-island properties at Petit St. Vincent and Palm Island have been through extended rebuilds, so confirm the current status of either before you count on it. The peak leisure months fall in the drier winter and spring, when the same brisk trade winds that keep the sailing good can ruffle a turboprop approach — reason enough to leave an hour's slack in the plan.

What Clients Ask Before Flying to the Grenadines
Which Grenadine islands can a private jet fly into directly?
