Canouan creates a rare exception in the Grenadines: it combines the "untouched" isolation of the smaller cays with a level of infrastructure usually reserved for major cities. This is the billionaire's alternative to Mustique — equally exclusive but with a polished, resort-forward energy. The destination is anchored by the 1,200-acre Canouan Estate, home to the Mandarin Oriental and the Soho Beach House.
Travelers fly here to find a balance between nature and ultra-luxury. The vibe is quieter and more dispersed than the dense social scene of St. Barts, catering to those who want to play championship golf in the morning, board a superyacht for lunch, and retreat to a hillside villa by sunset — all without ever seeing a crowd.

Canouan Airport (CIW/TVSC) is fully equipped for night operations and international arrivals, removing the "sunset pressure" found on other islands. For the departure, we recommend Miami-Opa Locka (OPF) for its dedicated executive infrastructure, though the flight path is straightforward from any South Florida hub.

Arriving Canouan
Canouan Island, VC0450, SVG
A gated island community built for privacy and superyachts.
Canouan is often described as where "the billionaires go to escape the millionaires." The north of the island is dominated by the Canouan Estate, a sprawling, manicured enclave that feels more like a private country club than a Caribbean town. The southern marina is designed specifically for 100-meter superyachts, creating a unique ecosystem where guests move seamlessly between their jets, their yachts, and the estate villas.
The Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD) is the official currency, but the US Dollar is the de facto standard within the resorts and marina. Transport is almost exclusively by golf cart ("buggy"), which comes standard with every villa or suite rental. Unlike Mustique, the airport here is modern and spacious, with a dedicated FBO (Sandy Lane Yacht Club & Residences) that handles high-volume jet traffic with ease.
he 3+ hour flight from Miami puts this route firmly in the "Midsize" to "Heavy" jet category. While a Light Jet (like a CJ3) can technically make the trip, it often requires a fuel stop or leaves little margin for headwinds. We strongly recommend a Super Midsize aircraft (Challenger 300/350) to ensure a non-stop, comfortable journey with ample luggage capacity for golf clubs and extended-stay wardrobes.
The peak season aligns with the global yachting calendar, running from December through April. The "Christmas Winds" can be strong in December and January, making the approach into Canouan visually dramatic but perfectly safe for the class of aircraft we utilize. May and June offer calmer waters and better value before the hurricane risk increases in late summer.
The pinnacles of Grenadine luxury.
Formerly the Pink Sands Club, this resort sits on Godahl Beach and is the island’s crown jewel. It features just 26 suites and 13 villas, offering a level of service where every guest is assigned a dedicated butler. The funicular railway transport system to the spa is a unique architectural highlight.
Modeled after its Barbadian namesake but built for the modern era, this marina is the social center of the island. It can berth yachts up to 100 meters, drawing a transient community of global elites who dock here for dinner at the waterfront promenade restaurants before continuing to the Tobago Cays.
Designed by Jim Fazio, this 18-hole championship course is widely considered one of the most challenging and scenic in the Caribbean. The layout features dramatic elevation changes, with holes playing directly along the ocean edge and others offering panoramic views from the island's highest peaks.
One of the newer additions to the island, this property brings the "barefoot chic" ethos of the Soho House brand to the Grenadines. Located on Grand Bay, it offers a looser, more creative atmosphere than the Mandarin, with a focus on open-air dining, thatched roofs, and a direct connection to the sand.
No. Canouan (CIW/TVSC) is equipped with runway lights and instrument approaches, allowing for night operations. This is a massive advantage over Mustique or Union Island, as it means a late afternoon departure from Miami is viable, and you won't be stranded if your flight is delayed past 6:00 PM.
Yes. Mustique is approximately 12 nautical miles north. A fast powerboat can make the crossing in about 30–40 minutes, depending on sea conditions. Many of our clients use Canouan as their "logistical base" (landing the heavy jet here) and then take day trips to Mustique or the Tobago Cays.
It is "Resort Elegant." While not as formal as the original Sandy Lane in Barbados, the Mandarin Oriental and the Estate restaurants generally require collared shirts and long trousers for men at dinner. The Soho Beach House is significantly more relaxed, allowing for shorts and high-end casual wear in the evenings.
US, UK, and Canadian citizens do not need a visa for stays up to varying lengths (typically 1-6 months), but you must have a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity remaining. You will fill out an immigration form upon arrival at the private terminal.
